Areas of Specialty
Anxiety
Are you experiencing difficulties such as excessive worry, frequently feeling on edge, urges to avoid certain situations or tasks due to discomfort or dread, or panic attacks? You may have difficulty sleeping or feel increasingly isolated due to anxiety. I understand the extent to which anxiety can interfere with daily activities and get in the way of truly living your life. I can help you learn how to manage anxiety symptoms and create more calm and satisfaction in your life.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
OCD is a consuming and debilitating disorder. If it seems like unwanted obsessions and compulsions have taken over your life, I want you to know that you do not have to continue to live this way. Proper treatment can greatly improve your life. One of my areas of specialty is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which research has shown to be the most effective form of therapy for treating OCD.
Trauma & PTSD
Some people continue to experience the impact of a traumatic experience for months or even years afterward. As a trauma-informed therapist, I provide a safe setting in which to help you heal from trauma and go on to live a satisfying life. One treatment option that I offer is Prolonged Exposure therapy, a specific form of cognitive behavioral therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that has been shown to be highly effective for reducing post-traumatic symptoms.
Emetophobia (Vomit Phobia)
Do you have a fear of vomiting? Do you find yourself avoiding places and things you associate with vomiting and being hypervigilant of physical sensations in your body? I understand how debilitating this phobia can be and I want you to know that there is hope. We can work together to help you decrease the avoidance behaviors that maintain your phobia. Like with other anxiety disorders, treatment will focus on helping you to increase your ability to tolerate uncertainty and to let go of “safety behaviors” that provide the illusion of control at the expense of your mental health.
